About the artist...
"Dedicated to working on projects that are educational, inspirational, or bring about awareness."
Jennifer D'Amore was born and raised in the shadows of New York City, where her life was influenced by a mosaic of culture and music. Undergraduate studies took her down the coast, to the southwest, and abroad, studying in Siena, Florence, and London. Sculpture was chosen as her main focus of study, though painting and intermedia were close contenders. Often compared to Kiki Smith, the conceptual work Jennifer created required more dimensions as she evolved from two to three or more, creating sculptures she could climb into and interact with, and then wearable sculptures that developed into performance pieces. Film was also incorporated, initially as an exploration of capturing not just the information, but the experience of live art performances.
"It is best to allow the medium to be determined by the concept and the audience that one wishes to reach."
Rather than continuing directly into a graduate program, this artist wanted to experience more of the world before creating art that would comment on it. She worked in "the real world" for years, starting with a social work position in a shelter for women and children, a "pseudo peace corps experience." This environment broadened the artist's world view on the experiences and behaviors of people from all walks of life. She eventually worked her way back into the business of art, and is currently represented by Horizon Art in Scottsdale, AZ.
Several years ago she returned to film school to continue her studies in film editing. Wasting no time, she quickly added to her portfolio videos for Fender Musical Instrument Company, lynda.com, tennis pro Meghann Shaugnessy, and a feature length inspirational artistic documentary, "The Song Within," that premiered at the Sedona International Film Festival, and was picked up for distribution by First Run Features. Jennifer's style of editing demonstrates a sensitivity to the emotions of a piece. Her musicality and sophisticated layering combine to give the viewer a beautifully choreographed visual experience.
In 2013, Jennifer made a move to the golden state of California, where she worked on an exciting team producing educational content. After three wonderful years, she took a huge risk, giving up the security and stability of a full time video editing gig to move and live internationally, spending time, and doing projects in Norway, Thailand, and at times the USA.
Always an observer, a sponge for information and experiences, she is interested in consciously evolving as an artist and as a human being. As a digital video nomad she can access the world, and continues to seek international projects and perspectives.
Jennifer specializes in creative documentary, educational and wellness content and continues to be dedicated to working on projects that are educational, inspirational, or bring about awareness.
